Why is the BIBS dummy so popular?

20/10/2021

Babies, as well as mums and dads, love BIBS dummies. And we can only agree with them! ;-) The personalised BIBS dummy with name is also an incredibly popular item in our e-store. What makes these hip dummies so popular? This blog article explains all you need to know about this bestseller.

Timeless design in warm colours
Did you know that the Danish brand BIBS has been around for more than 40 years? Everything is designed and produced in Denmark. These dummies have been on the rise in recent years, and today they’re more popular than ever. The timeless design of BIBS dummies, with a retro look in trendy shades, is just what parents are looking for. The collection used to be more limited, with only basic colours such as black and white, but now you can choose from a range of beautiful pastel and trendy hues. Yay!

Thoughtful design
The dummies might look nice, but the design was by no means random. A lot of thought went into it. Innovation that excels in its simplicity. For example, a BIBS dummy has a round guard that deflects away from your baby's face, so that the air in between can circulate well. It keeps the skin around the baby’s mouth dry, so your child won’t suffer any irritation in this area. The teat is a round cherry shape that mimics the nipple to stimulate the baby's sucking reflex.

Why does a BIBS dummy have 3 holes? There’s a good reason for this. The Danish company puts your baby's safety first! The holes allow your child to breathe easily, and also facilitate smooth air circulation.

BIBS dummies are 100% made of natural rubber, so they’re completely free of harmful substances such as BPA.

Personalisation
Babygoodies can engrave a BIBS De Lux dummy with the name of your child. A BIBS dummy with name isn’t just practical and hygienic, it’s also an original item for the nursery. We apply the name or text permanently, so it can’t be removed. The imprint will therefore carry on looking good, even after sterilising the teat.

Looking after the dummy
The teat is made of natural rubber, and can deform or increase in size with use. Don't worry, this is completely normal, as the teat adapts to your baby's mouth. For this reason, it’s important to replace dummies regularly, and select the right size. We recommend replacing dummies after 4 to 6 weeks. Our e-store has two sizes available: 0 to 6 months, and 6 to 18 months.

At first glance, these look pretty similar. We recommend size 1 for new-born babies up to 6 months, and size 2 for babies from 6 to 18 months. As you can see in the photo, size 2 is slightly longer and narrower, so it’s more comfortable for your baby when they start teething. The narrow teat reduces pressure on your baby's gums.

How to clean and sterilise a BIBS dummy:

Before using the dummy for the first time, you must sterilise it. Boil water in a pan on the hob, or use a kettle. Then pour the water into a bowl. Place the teat in the boiled water for a maximum of 5 minutes. Don't worry if water gets into the teat, once cooled you can squeeze it out. If the teat is still a bit wet, it’s best to let it dry out on a towel. Rinsing the dummy daily with water is enough to keep it clean.

Never put the dummy in the dishwasher or in a microwave steriliser, as the heat can damage or discolour the rubber.
